Eyewash & safety showers

This module tracks emergency eyewash stations and safety showers under ANSI/ISEA Z358.1 (referenced by OSHA 1910.151(c)) — plumbed stations activated weekly and all stations inspected annually. Each station runs a 7-day and a 365-day clock, and a failed check takes the station out of service.

Register a station

1. Under Register a station, choose the site and enter the asset tag and location. The location field pulls from your site's saved areas.
2. Pick the station type (eyewash, shower, or combination).
3. Click Register. The station joins the list with its weekly and annual due dates.

Record a check

1. Filter by Site if needed, then find the station in the list.
2. Click Weekly ✓ or Annual ✓ to log that check — the matching due date rolls forward.
3. Click Fail to record a failed check and take the station out of service; when repaired, click Return to bring it back.

Follow up

• An overdue date shows in bold red, and the row turns yellow (a check has lapsed) or red (out of service).
• For a station needing attention, click CAPA to open a corrective action; the row then links to that CAPA.
• Decommission permanently retires a station that's been removed — it drops out of every attention count, but its history stays on record.

What happens automatically

• When a check lapses on an in-service station, the escalation sweep raises an overdue notification addressed to the Safety Team for that site, with a link back to this page — "Eyewash annual inspection overdue" or "Eyewash weekly activation overdue" per the asset tag. Set who's emailed for that queue under notification routing. An overdue annual inspection is reported first; otherwise the overdue weekly activation. Stations already out of service aren't re-escalated; the red row is the flag.
• Escalation is overdue-only by design: weekly checks would spam if reminded in advance, and repeated sweeps don't pile up duplicate notifications.

Tip: the weekly activation is the flush that keeps stagnant water out of the lines — log it every week, not just at the annual inspection.
