Chemicals & SDS

Keep a current GHS-classified safety data sheet for every hazardous chemical, flag ones past review, and export an EPCRA Tier II-ready inventory.

This module is your OSHA HazCom (29 CFR 1910.1200) chemical inventory. Each hazardous chemical carries a current, GHS-classified safety data sheet, and items past the 3-year review cadence are flagged so nothing goes stale.

Add a chemical

  1. Go to Chemicals & SDS and fill in the Add a chemical / SDS form at the bottom.
  2. Enter the product name, manufacturer, site, and storage location.
  3. Record the GHS details — signal word, pictograms, and hazard statements (one per line, e.g. H225) — plus the SDS revision date and a link or reference to the sheet itself.
  4. Click Add chemical. Hazardous products get a hazardous badge in the list.
  5. Migrating an existing inventory? Import it from a spreadsheet on the import page — Safety Data Sheets are one of the importable targets.

Keep sheets current

  • Any active chemical whose SDS is past the review cadence (or has no revision date) shows a review due badge on a highlighted row; filter Status → Review due to see only those.
  • When you've obtained or re-checked the sheet, click SDS current — it records today as the SDS revision date and clears the flag.
  • Click Archive when a chemical is no longer on site — it drops out of the active inventory but the record is kept for history.
  • On a flagged row, click Raise CAPA to open a corrective action to obtain the current SDS; once raised, the row links to that CAPA.

Inventory by location — and Tier II

Use Inventory by location (top right) to see chemicals grouped by site and storage area — handy for emergency responders and HazCom right-to-know postings. That page also has a Tier II export (CSV) button: an EPCRA Tier II-ready listing of active hazardous chemicals with location and quantities (fill in the amount range codes before filing).

What happens automatically

  • An SDS past its review cadence escalates to the safety team by notification. Set who's emailed for that queue under notification routing.

Tip: filter by Site to hand a single location its own chemical list.
