First aid & AED

Under OSHA 1910.151, first-aid kits and AEDs need to be present and ready. This module keeps a register of those assets with a monthly readiness check and expiry tracking, and flags anything overdue, expired, or out of service.

Register an asset

1. Go to First aid & AED and use the Register an asset form at the bottom.
2. Pick the Site, give the asset a tag and location, and choose the type (first-aid kit or AED).
3. Enter the supplies expiry and, for an AED, the battery expiry dates.
4. Click Register. The asset appears with its next check due 30 days out.

Run a readiness check

• On any asset row, click Check ✓ when it is present and ready, or Not ready when it is not.
• Recording a check resets the 30-day due date; Not ready puts the asset out of service.
• Use Return to put an out-of-service asset back in service once fixed.
• When an asset was scrapped or permanently removed, click Decommission — it drops out of every attention count while its history stays on record.

Watch the flags

• Rows turn red when an asset is out of service or has expired supplies/battery, and amber when a check is due or an item expires within 30 days.
• The status column shows ready, expired, or out of service at a glance.
• When an asset needs attention, use the CAPA button to raise a corrective action; the row then links to it (CAPA).
• Filter by Site at the top to work one location at a time.

What happens automatically

The daily escalation sweep notifies the safety queue about any in-service asset whose:

• supplies or AED battery have expired — flagged with the earliest expired date, or
• readiness check is overdue — flagged with the missed due date.

Decommissioned and already-out-of-service assets are excluded, so the queue only shows things that claim to be ready but aren't. Dashboard tiles count assets, those needing attention, and those expired — and deep-link back to this list.
