Agency-issued permits

Issue permits from the agency to its constituents — member organizations or outside businesses — and track them through expiry, renewal, and revocation.

Some agencies issue permits to the businesses they regulate — hot work, special events, open burning, and the like. Agency oversight → Permits (/agency/permits) is where a pool or agency issues and tracks those permits. They're the agency's own records. You need the Agency Inspector or Agency Admin role.

Issue a permit

In Issue a permit:

  1. Choose the constituent — pick a member organization from the dropdown, or leave it on "external / free-text" and type the business name (the Name box suggests constituents you've permitted before).
  2. Pick the permit Type from the list (Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Excavation, …).
  3. Enter your permit Number and the expiry date, then click Issue.

Manage the lifecycle

Each permit shows its state — Active, Expired, or Revoked — with a ⚠ when it's expiring soon:

  • Renew 1yr extends an active or expired permit's expiry a year out.
  • Revoke cancels an active permit immediately.
  • Reinstate 1yr brings a revoked permit back with a fresh year.

Use Export CSV to download the permits register.

What happens automatically

  • A permit's state is derived from its expiry and revocation on every view — you never mark it "expired" by hand.
  • "Expiring soon" flags a permit before it lapses so you can renew ahead of time.
