Scaffolds

This module tracks scaffold inspections under 29 CFR 1926.451(f)(3) — a competent person inspects each scaffold before every work shift and applies a tag: green (safe), yellow (caution), or red (unsafe — do not use). Each erected scaffold runs on a daily inspection clock.

Register a scaffold

1. Under Register a scaffold, choose the site and enter the scaffold ID and location.
2. Pick the scaffold type and the competent person who will inspect it — pick from your worker roster or type a name.
3. Click Register. The scaffold joins the list with its next inspection due date.

Tag an inspection

1. Filter by Site if needed, then find the scaffold in the list.
2. Click Green, Yellow, or Red to record the shift inspection and set the tag.
3. A yellow tag means use only under the stated restrictions (caution); a red tag means do not use — the row turns red and the unsafe condition is noted in the Tag column.

Dismantle when the job is done

• When the scaffold comes down, click Dismantle. That ends the daily inspection clock: a dismantled scaffold no longer counts as overdue and no longer escalates, but its record stays for history.

Follow up

• The row turns yellow once the daily inspection has lapsed, and red when the scaffold is red-tagged.
• For a scaffold needing attention, click CAPA to open a corrective action — it captures why (red tag and/or missed pre-shift inspection) — and the row then links to that CAPA so the fix is tracked.

What happens automatically

• When an erected scaffold misses its daily inspection, the escalation sweep raises an overdue notification — "Scaffold daily inspection overdue: (scaffold ID)" — addressed to that scaffold's competent person, or to the Safety Team if no competent person is recorded, with a link back to this page.
• A red-tagged (unsafe) scaffold now escalates too — "Scaffold red-tagged (unsafe): (scaffold ID)" — even when the pre-shift inspection is current, and stays escalated until the tag clears or the scaffold is dismantled.
• Overdue-inspection escalation is overdue-only by design: a daily check would spam if reminded in advance, and repeated sweeps don't pile up duplicate notifications.
• Export register CSV downloads the scaffold register with tag status, inspection dates, and open gaps (api/scaffolds/register.csv).

Tip: the tag is only valid for the shift it was issued — re-inspect and re-tag at the start of each work shift, not just when something looks wrong.
